How much does it cost to register for an AAU Beach Volleyball Tour event?
Each participant must be a member of the AAU which has an annual fee of $12. Memberships expire August 31st each year and must be renewed each year. Memberships purchased after August 15th are good for the following season. Each tournament has a separate cost and fees are based on two person teams. Check the Tour Schedule for the cost of each tournament. Online registration is available for tournaments and AAU membership.

When and how do I register?
The registration deadline for each tournament is usually 48 hours prior to the start of the tournament. For Saturday events, the registration is Thursday at midnight. For Sunday events, the deadline is Friday at midnight. There is walk-up registration available for most events, if space is available. Some events have sold out in the past. Walk-up registration is an additional $10 per team. No credit cards are accepted on site. Check or cash only.

What if I have to cancel or withdraw from an event?
Teams can withdraw from the event prior to the online registration deadline of 48 hours prior to competition. Teams that have one athlete who is unable to participate may transfer the opening to another athlete who is a registered AAU athlete. It is possible to transfer the paid fee to a future AAU tournament if the request made is after the 48 hour deadline. Contact the Southern Pacific Volleyball

What time do I need to arrive at the beach on the tournament day?
Walk-Up registration usually begins at 7:45 AM. Athletes who pre-register must check in between 8:00 AM and 8:45 AM. Late registration takes place up until 9:00 AM. After registration is complete, the pre-tournament meeting will take place between 9:15 - 9:30 AM. If a team fails to show up for the tournament without prior notification (48 hours), no refund will be issued. A tournament space has been reserved for all teams and if a team fails to show, the slot may be given to walk-up team.

How do I qualify for the AAU Junior National Beach Volleyball Championships and what is the format?
The AAU Junior National Beach Volleyball Championships is an open tournament and there is no qualifying necessary. This is the largest tournament on the schedule due to the open entry format. Early registration is recommended. The tournament is pool play (two rounds) with playoffs. The format requires two days of competition, although all teams may not compete on both days.

How do I qualify for the AAU Junior Olympic Games and/or the AAU Best of the Beach?
The AAU Junior Olympic Games qualifies the top three teams from League/Series, Open, District, Regional and select cooperative events from affiliate organizations. Only the champions qualify from select AAU championship events for the AAU Best of the Beach events.

What if I registered for the wrong division?
Every effort will be made to ensure teams are placed in the correct division. If a team registers in the wrong division and there is no place in the correct division, the team will have to compete in the registered division. Teams which have partners in two different age divisions will be placed in the higher division. Teams may elect to compete in a higher division.

What tournament format will be used on the AAU Beach Volleyball Tour?
All tournaments will utilize pool play followed by playoffs. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games. Most tournament games will be a single game in pool play. Select national tournaments and divisions will utilize the best of three format in pool play and playoff competition. This is to ensure the pacing and completion of the tournament for all teams involved. Teams are expected to officiate and score assigned matches on their schedule. Playoff officiating teams are assigned for the first round, after this, the losing team must officiate the next match on their court or assigned court before dismissal. AAU officials are assigned for select matches at the AAU National Championships, AAU Junior Olympic Games, AAU Best of the Beach, AAU Tour Championships and select regional events.

Is Coaching allowed on the AAU Beach Volleyball Tour?
Passive coaching is permitted. Coaching can only take place during time-outs and in between sets and matches. Teams are not required to have a coach.
